This is a pair of unusual double-sided vintage clip on earrings. I recently acquired an estate of costume jewelry which included a bag of several pairs of these double-sided clips in various styles. The owner was obviously a collector. This pair has a prong set clear rhinestone chaton on one side and a prong set aurora borealis rhinestone chaton on the other. The earrings bear Patent No. 1,967,965, which was issued in 1932 to Eugene Morehouse and was apparently licensed by several jewelry designers, as I have seen the patent used on several other pieces of jewelry. The patent obviously refers to the intricate scrollwork on the clip, which doesn't really show up well on these photos.
The rhinestones are about 3mm in diameter. The earrings measure 1/2 inch long. They are in excellent condition with virtually no signs of vintage wear.
